If Poetry Touches You

by allunited @ 2006-05-07 - 17:38:24

A disclaimer at the very outset that I am not a poet or someone that claims to know a lot about poetry.

Nonetheless, I like poems and I would like to see and learn and read more of them and I think we need more of it in our every day life...

So, if poetry touches you and if you have recently written a poem because an incident or a person touches you or if you have read any poems that have touched your soul...please...

Please, I do beg for you to share it with me...

Mission Impossible III

by allunited @ 2006-05-07 - 17:21:02

Feeling much better today I went out with friends and catch the latest and coolest movie, Mission Impossible III.

Overall I think the movie is a bit of a disappointment. The storyline appears familiar and thin, barely justifying the amount of shooting and bombing in the movie.

Furthermore, there is nothing new regarding the usual killing and bomb scenes.

The female lead is surprisingly unattractive. I also had the feeling that the director was trying to cast someone of the same style as Katie Holmes, and ended up choosing someone plain, perhaps to keep Katie happy.

Maggie Q looks stunning but I felt that there were romantic sub-plots that were poorly developed, such as that between her and co-agent when they talked about her cat and how she had used to pray for it to come back...That scene was awkwardly edited just when co-agent asked Maggie to teach her the prayer she was murmuring to herself.

Also, for the amount of resources put into a movie of this scale, they should at least get an accurate translation of the Cantonese done by the "translator" at the Vatican. That scene is otherwise hilarious for any Cantonese speaking audience.

Despite all failings of this movie however, I think the movie is still sufficiently entertaining for someone who've got an afternoon or an evening to kill, and of course, it has got much more to offer if you are Tom Cruise's fans.

I Dreamt of Snow

by allunited @ 2006-05-06 - 14:59:04

I did not feel well today and I lied in bed almost all day. It is strange how high fever could make you dream the weirdest dreams.

I dreamt that Hong Kong was snowing on a January day. I remembered leaning against the window and touching light feathers of snow, their softness and coolness brushing against my fingers and I felt immensely happy.

I remember seeing a security guard standing by a lamp post and I saw soft snow landing on his long dark coat. It is a raincoat. And I remember telling someone excitedly that it is snowing.

I was ill in my dream too, very much so, and I was helpless and did not know what to do. I felt heavy and dizzy and feared something horrible might happen.

I slept the whole afternoon and woke up smelling of sweat and felt heavy with headache.

I really miss having someone to call on days like today.

It has been a long time and I remember how disappointing it had been for me to love someone.

I miss him but I could not reach him because he is with someone else now. Someone, I believe to be young and innocent and not to be hurt.

I saw their photo on the internet today and he was holding her in his arms. I do not remember him to be so happy when he was with me and I cried a little.

I do not want her to be me. And I wanted them to be happy.

And I felt like writing this all down because it is really hard to love somebody and to learn to let go.

I just hope that I will be happy some day too.
